About Gaywood Primary School

Gaywood Primary is about to embark on an exciting new chapter of its journey to outstanding, in joining West Norfolk Academies Trust in June 2017. To support this journey we are now looking for a talented and motivated Headteacher to join us from January 2018.

Gaywood Primary is a large primary school located in King’s Lynn, catering for over 400 pupils between the ages of four and eleven.  Gaywood is a happy and supportive school, providing a friendly and caring environment for all pupils to excel and flourish within.

Everyone at Gaywood aspires to create a supportive and inclusive school where all are valued and respected both as individuals and as part of the collective Gaywood Primary team, as well as the wider West Norfolk Academies Trust team. Our high expectations and high quality teaching and learning lead our pupils to achieve great success both inside and outside of the classroom.

We believe we offer an innovative curriculum designed to meet the need of all pupils. This includes developing the distributed leadership of the school, with all teaching staff having a greater role in the leadership and management of learning across the whole school.

Traditionally, subject leads were arranged in Key Stages and therefore lacked a whole school strategic vision, our new approach allows colleagues to extend and share their expertise more widely leading to greater impact across the whole school.

Class teachers are responsible for ensuring the welfare of all of the children and delivery of the curriculum. Work is planned jointly across teaching team with close communication and support from our teaching assistant team. Planning and delivery draws upon the strengths, skills and knowledge within the year group teams to ensure lessons are exciting and well matched to the needs of the children.

Our curriculum is designed to be interactive, with plenty of opportunities for our pupils to develop key skills and be inspired along the way. Our focus will always be on providing our children with a first-class primary education, but we continuously strive to make these learning experiences as enjoyable and memorable as possible as we believe that children learn best when they are happy, confident and well-motivated.

We are excited about the future of Gaywood Primary and are looking forward to welcoming a motivated, hard-working and inspirational Headteacher to work alongside colleagues at the school and across the Trust as we progress through our journey outstanding.
